EVENT DESCRIPTION
Encampments are week long activities that serve to build a foundation for cadets from which to build their Civil Air Patrol experience. These week long events provide in-depth orientation to Civil Air Patrol and the United States Air Force. First time cadets can expect to be challenged both mentally and physically during a busy and exciting week of hands on leadership development training, aerospace events, and local site activities. Cadets returning as staff will be challenged even further through the leadership roles they will fill and staff duties they will perform. All cadets will have the opportunity to be introduced to the military, learn to overcome challenges, develop time-management skills, enhance their interpersonal skills, and have a great time.
-

UNIFORM/EQUIPMENT
Use the encampment packing list form  to ensure all items are brought to encampment. This form requires cadet and parent signature and must be turned in during inprocessing.

How to pack your gear
: Encampments require a significant amount of equipment be brought to the activity. The living accommodations, however, do not have wall lockers or other storage systems. Therefore, choose a footlocker, suit case, or plastic tub from which you can easily access equipment. Duffel bags are not authorized because you must empty the contents of the bag entirely to get to something at the bottom – choose something that you can keep your property in at all times but still easily access everything. An example can be found here.
-
COLD WEATHER GEAR IS ESSENTIAL FOR A SAFE AND ENJOYABLE ENCAMPMENT AND IS NOT AN OPTIONAL PACKING ITEM.
-
MEALS
Meals will be provided at the encampment. Cadets with special meal needs must submit a list of needs by 13 Dec 11 using the Special Dietary Needs Form (online available soon) and note any special dietary needs on the FLWG Form 504.
