Color Guard Academy

Learn how the champs do it!

Every squadron is asked to provide a Color Guard from time time. Now you can send your cadets to perform with confidence.  Members of National Color Guard Competition Champion teams will instruct your cadets how to: post and retrieve the Colors as a flag detail, post and retrieve the Colors at a formal banquet, and parade with pride!

DESCRIPTION:
The Color Guard Academy is designed to assist squadrons training color guard teams for Florida Wing Color Guard Competition.  This event is designed for teams of cadets who are interested in learning about and preparing for Florida Wing Color Guard Competition.  The academy’s focus will be on explaining the rules and procedures for all 7 color guard competition events.  This course is designed for beginning teams.

Participating cadets must have a working knowledge of drill and ceremonies (i.e. attention, parade rest, forward march, flanking movements etc.) before they attend.  No prior color guard training is needed.  Each team must have a senior escort.  No unescorted teams will be permitted. Cadets will be trained by members of the 2002 National Color Guard Competition champion teams and members of the 2005 and 2007 SER Color Guard Competition champions.

ELIGIBILITY:
This activity is for cadet airman and cadet NCO’s. Cadet officers are ineligible to participate on a team.  Each team MUST have an accompanying senior member.  Teams must register with 4 members each (two cadets will be trained as guards, two as flag bearers).  This is a team training activity, so the 4 cadet requirement will not be waived.  Teams not meeting the four cadet minimum will not be considered.  Teams arriving undermanned or unescorted will be sent home.
