EVENT DESCRIPTION:
Encampments are a week long orientation, leadership, and military career orientation activity. First year cadets can expect to hown there skills as a follower of a unit. Returning cadets can expect to enhance their leadership skills as part of one of the many leadership roles available. All cadets will have the opportunity to be introduced to the military, learn to overcome challenges, develop time-management skills, enhance their interpersonal skills and much more.
ELIGIBILITY:
To be eligible to participage in this activity, cadets must have completed the Curry Achievement and be C/Amn. Cadets who have previously attended an encampment and wish to apply for a staff position are asked to refer to the Operations Order for staff application procedures.
FEE:
Cadets & Senior Members
$175.00 per person. Checks or money orders ONLY, made payable to Florida Wing, Civil Air Patrol
APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
Basic Cadets (Doolies)
1. Complete the FLWGF500. Must be signed by parent/guardian and your unit commander.
2. Complete two(2) CAPF60's
3. Include application fee (a check for $175.00, payable to “Florida Wing Civil Air Patrol”)
4. Mail the mailing address, postmarked by 12 Dec 2008 (Applications may be accepted late; however a $25.00 late fee will be added to the original instructional fee after December 12, 2008)
Cadet Staff
Contact the Encampment Commander, LtCol Hartigan at rhartigan@flwg.us, with the staff positions of interest. Ideal application package will include:
1. Professional cover letter
2. CAP resume
3. Completed FLWGF500
4. Completed CAPF60
Senior Member Staff
Senior Members interested in serving as staff position or instructor should contact the Encampment Commander, LtCol Hartigan at rhartigan@flwg.us, with the staff positions of subjects that are of interest. Ideal application package will include:
1. Professional cover letter
2. Professional and CAP resume
3. Completed FLWGF500
4. Completed CAPF60

DEADLINE:
12 December 2008 - Postmarked date for completed Doolie applications. Late applications may be accepted late; however a $25.00 late fee will be added.
CHECK-IN:
Basic Cadets (Doolies) - Arrive no earlier than 1000hrs and no later than 1200hrs on 28 Dec 08.
Cadet Staff - Arrive no earlier than 1200hrs and no later than 1500hrs on 27 Dec 08
Senior Member Staff and Instructors - Will receive individual reporting times
GRADUATION:
All training will conlduce at 1200hrs on 3 Jan 09 - (graduation times coming soon)
UNIFORM/EQUIPMENT:
Refer to Equipment List (coming soon - 3 Oct 08)
MEALS:
Meals will be provided at the encampment. Cadets with special meal needs must submit a list of needs by 19 DEC 08 to the Encampment Commander, LtCol Hartigan at rhartigan@flwg.us.
CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS:
Before 12 Dec 08 - Will receive a full refund.
After 12 Dec 08 but before 19 Dec 08 - Will incur $50 cancellation fee. (Late fees will not be refunded)
After 19 Dec 08 - No refunds
*Refund processing may take as long as 45 days after the end of the encampment*
TRANSPORTATION:
Transportation to and from encampment is the participant's personal responsibility. Units or Groups may arrange for common transportation. Participants should contact their unit commander to inquire if such arrangements are being made.
EMERGENCY CONTACTS:
In the event of an emergency, use the following numbers. Keep in mind that this information is for parents, unit commanders, and encampment staff. All other persons are to go through normal channels.
